DIY Red Clover & Grapefruit Nightly Skin Toner Recipe

This beautiful, gentle pink nightly skin toner is perfect for healing and soothing sensitive skin.

+ Red clover is known for its antioxidant & anti-inflammatory properties and acne control properties (it contains salicylic acid naturally). Additionally, it has phytoestrogens, which boosts "collagen content, skin thickness and improve(s) skin moisture"! Amazing right?
+ Apple cider vinegar is famous for its antibacterial properties (goodbye acne!)
+ Grapefruit essential oil is a brightening astringent with antimicrobial & oil control.

It’s easy to make - this recipe took me 15 minutes to test - and the ingredients are inexpensive or free. Red clover can be found growing almost anywhere! Check fields, yards, ditches, or your garden. Harvest and wash some red clover blossoms to use for this recipe or dry for future use. If you don't have ready access to any of the ingredients for this recipe, I've included links below in the recipe for where to purchase them, including bulk organic red clover blossoms!
Red Clover & Grapefruit Skin Toner Recipe
Ingredients:

1 part witch hazel
1 part apple cider vinegar (with mother)
3 parts filtered water
½ cup red clover blossoms, leaves removed & washed
3-5 oz. bottle, sterilized
3-6 drops grapefruit essential oil

Directions:

Boil water, steep blooms for 5-10 mins. Strain water through a sieve into bottle. Add witch hazel, apple cider vinegar, and grapefruit essential oil to the bottle. Shake to combine. Watch the toner turn pink! Store in fridge or a cool place away from sunlight. Toner lasts approximately 30 days.

*The only note is - grapefruit essential oil does not interact with skin well in the sun! It can cause irritation and minor chemical burns. I included grapefruit essential oil to mask the apple cider vinegar smell, but you can just as easily leave it out if you don't mind the smell. Do a patch test to make sure your skin is okay with it first. If not, the grapefruit essential oil can be substituted or omitted.

When applying the toner, you can use it as a spray (for a stronger effect) or you can use it to cleanse your face with cotton pads. I recommend using this toner at night to renew and heal your face, then rinsing your face with room temperature water in the morning to remove. It’s important to remember to use a good moisturizer afterwards. You can sleep well knowing that herbs are taking care of your skin!

Healing Blessings,
